COFFEE WITH SCIENCE - MICROBES: THE LIFE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MICROSCOPE
27 MAY 2018
With Fernando Tavares (CIBIO-InBIO)

In this session of Coffee with Science we will look at the biodiversity that is invisible to the naked eye: microbial biodiversity. Through the microscope’s lenses (among other tools to be used), we will learn a little about this incredible hidden world and realize that microbes are not only responsible for pathologies, they are the solution to many of our problems, wherein it is fundamental to know them and preserve their biodiversity .

Fernando Tavares, has a B.Sc degree in Biology from the University of Porto and a PhD from the University of Umea, Sweden. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology of the Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto and coordinates the research group on Microbial Diversity and Evolution (MDE). integrated within CIBIO-InBIO, whose mission is fundamental and applied research related to microbial diversity and evolution.
