JOSÉ PEDRO CROFT: FROM ONE SIDE TO THE OTHER
SCULPTURES, DRAWINGS AND ENGRAVINGS FROM THE SERRALVES COLLECTION
‘From One Side to the Other’ features 15 works from the Serralves Collection covering the most relevant periods of José Pedro Croft’s (Porto, 1957) career, highlighting his fundamental concerns, methodologies and use of materials. The exhibition is organized according to four themes: Monument and Death; Home and Furniture; Mirrors and Glass; Drawing and Engraving.
With an artistic career that started in the 1980s, Croft has been one of the contemporary sculptors more concerned with a critical approach to the idea of monumentality, the tradition of statuary and the relationship between architecture and sculpture. His works reflect upon notions of time and space in our perception of sculptural objects, creating a visual game with its environments.
‘From One Side to the Other’ in Museu Municipal de Faro is part of a programme of exhibitions and sited presentations of works from the Serralves Collection that furthers the Museum’s aim of making the Collection visible and accessible to a broader public around the country.
