Slow is Possible “Hunting Weather” (Portugal) + Red Trio & Raoul Bjorkenheim (Portugal / Finland)
17 JUL 2016
Slow is Possible "Hunting Weather” (Portugal)

Acclaimed new Portuguese jazz group, formed by young musicians from the Beira Interior region, with prior activity primarily in the field of classical music. Slow is Possible play cinematic jazz that sometimes leads us to the writings of John Zorn intended for the big screen. A jazz without clichéd sounds, tricks or vices, that incorporates classic elements of rock and exploratory music, sustained by an intense rhythm and memorable melodies. The septet will present a project that has been specially created for Serralves, inspired by a poem by Charles Bukowski, "The Genius of the Crowd". Part of a track included in their namesake debut album, "Chasin 'Bukowski". The concert will end with the brand-new track, "Catchin' Bukowski".

Red Trio & Raoul Bjorkenheim (Portugal / Finland)

One of the most internationally acclaimed Portuguese jazz projects, Red Trio will present a concert in an electric version, replacing the group’s usual grand piano and bass with a Fender Rhodes, MiniMoog, electronic music and electric bass. In this format, the trio formed by Rodrigo Pinheiro, Hernani Faustino and Gabriel Ferrandini gains an extra "groovy" dimension that brings it closer to the world of rock. This orientation is further accentuated by the trio’s guest, Finnish guitarist Raoul Bjorkenheim, known for his work with Krakatau, recording for ECM, and with the Scorch Trio (Rune Grammofon), formed with Ingebrigt Haker-Flaten and Paal Nilssen-Love (now simply called Scorch, with the entry of Frank Rosaly and Mars Williams). Bjorkenheim follows in the wake of Red Trio’s other "special guests", such as John Butcher and Nate Wooley, in what promises to be the beginning (it's the first time that they will play together) of a new chapter in the trio’s musical career.

Rodrigo Pinheiro: Fender Rhodes electric piano, eletronic
Hernâni Faustino: electric bass
Gabriel Ferrandini: drums, percussion
Raoul Bjorkenheim: electric guitar
