The Serralves Foundation is an organizer of summer camps, registered in the North Regional Directorate of the Instituto Português do Desporto e Juventude, I.P. (Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth), with registration number 79 / DRN.

In partnership with the Riding School of the Equestrian Centre of Porto and Matosinhos, these beginners’ courses offer an initial contact with the equestrian universe. The week includes courses about horses and equestrian activities, complemented by horse riding in the meadow and / or Serralves Farm, that allow participants to get used to sitting in the saddle in an area of great beauty and in contact with nature. Activities such as grooming and cleaning or maintenance of boxes complement the programme, along with other educational activities and games.
The young participants will be able to come into contact with horses and have the basis to continue to more advanced training, available in the Riding School of the Equestrian Centre of Porto and Matosinhos, or simply come back next season for another enjoyable week with these magnificent animals.

Co-ordination: Riding School of the Equestrian Centre of Porto and Matosinhos

4-22 July and 8 August-2 September, 9:30-12:30 and from 14:00-17:00
Minimum number of participants: 8
Note: children must bring comfortable trousers (training suit or leggings) and boots.
Threading Serralves
Let's build a pocketbook full of lines ... but they’re not ruled lines, they’re the lines of our imagination.
A wool thread extending on the ground will be the reason to discover Serralves. Like the story in the children's tale "Tom Thumb", where a trail of stones or crumbs is left that allows the characters to know the way back, in this workshop we will also find the route, by following a wool thread through the various spaces of Serralves.
The book is made up of drawings, prints and collages of the memories of the spaces we have visited, connected by threads that link them together. A book which is made up of lines of affinity, itineraries, wool thread or graphite lines that intersect with other lines of our imagination.

Animalarium of sounds
We know how much fun it is to meet new animals from various parts of the world, of different sizes, colours and form. What would happen if we combined them all together?
In this workshop we will explore new ways of combining large and small beings in a family of invented animals. Suggested by various sounds, these new creatures will dance, spin around and present to the public a show drawn, painted and built for us.
Design and Coordination: Joana Nascimento, Sofia Santos
4-8 July, 14:00-17:00
8-12 August, 14:00-17:00

Imagined paintings
The holidays start and discoveries journey through our imagination.
Together, let's invent new colours, textures and other fun ways of expression.
Construct and deconstruct pencils, transform paints into hard blocks, melt down waxes and create sponges ... or a whirlwind of paint balls await us, in order to create fantastic works with different techniques.
Design and Coordination: Ana Martins, Carlos Carvalho
11-15 July, 9:30-12:30

Masters of arts and mischief
Have you ever wondered how Michelangelo managed to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel or how Jackson Pollock could paint such large canvases that he couldn’t cover, even on tiptoe ?! In this workshop we will enjoy ourselves by experiencing the most creative working techniques used by the great artists of all time.
Design and Coordination: Raquel Correia, Sónia Borges
18-22 July, 9:30-12:30
29 August-2 September, 9:30-12:30

Farm explorers
Did you know that the donkey is the most social animal on the Farm? He likes all the other animals, without distinguishing the little ones from the big ones! And did you know that sheep are shy animals? These are some of the inhabitants that you'll discover at Serralves Farm, and you'll learn how to feed them, their hygiene care and functions. Let's embark on this adventure and discover the stables, chicken coop and meadow!
Design and Coordination: Catavento, Lda.
18-22 July, 14:00-17:00
29 August-2 September, 14:00-17:00

Fresh tarts and creamy ice-cream
Do you like to cook? Then this workshop is perfect for you! During this week, we’ll put on the apron and chef’s hat, roll up our sleeves and get our hands dirty!
Since it’s summer time, the recipes are fresh and delicious! Nothing better than learning how to make ice cream, pies and sweet pizzas and then enjoy them with our family!
Design and Coordination: Catavento, Lda.
8-12 August, 9:30-12:30
16-19 August, 14:00-17:00

Navigators in the Park
On tiptoes, slowly and noiselessly, let’s discover the figures that live in Serralves. Will they be magic? Will they be dwarfs or giants? Will they be fairies or kings and queens? Does anyone live in the lake? Between the trees, shrubs and clearings, we’ll look for these magical beings and create a floating sculpture!
Design and Coordination: Catavento, Lda.
22-26 August, 9:30-12:30

Impressions of Serralves
In this workshop we will take "Impressions of Serralves"! We will use techniques of pencil rubbings, monotype, and engraving to perpetuate our memories.
Is it possible that Serralves, like us, only has a single fingerprint? You will decide using your sensations and experiences from this place.
You will learn how to multiply your drawings to infinity! Always using the original imprint, you can change the colours, print on different materials or create patterns.
Design and Coordination: Ana Vieira, Andreia Coutinho
22-26 August, 14:00-17:00

Journey in the Solar Ship of the Earth
We invite you to embark in the ship in which we travel around the sun - the Solar Ship of the Earth - through which we’ll explore the space of Serralves Farm and the numerous games that Nature offers there. Working with natural materials, listening to the sounds that accompany us and putting our hands in the Earth we will connect with the planet, understand better how it works and explore our relationship with it.
Design and Coordination: Joana Costa, Joana Guedes
4-8 July, 9:30-12:30
22-26 August, 14:00-17:00

Fearful monsters!
Where are the monsters? Under the bed? In the dark? Inside the closet? Do they live there, or do they just hide there? Are they afraid? Of what? Of who? Come and discover where the monsters and what they’re afraid of. Will we find them in the shadows? In a spot of chocolate? We need you and your imagination to unravel this mystery.

Cooking with the Sun
Let's learn how to cook with the sun, and learn how to make various types of solar ovens and solar dehydrators! We prepare delicious and healthy recipes, such as bread stuffed with olives, tomato and oregano, vegetarian pizza, chocolate cupcakes or apple and ginger cake. We will also visit a solar kitchen and then build small miniatures of some models of ovens that you can make at home, in full size, with the help of your family.
Design and Coordination: Dina Marques
11-15 July, 14:00-17:00

Feet first, all hands on the job!
Come with us and put your feet on the path, to make friends among the animals of the Farm! We will travel through the Park to learn more about who lives in Serralves, those who live in the soil and those who live in the trees, those which wander through the meadow and those which protect the vegetable garden. In the hut, we will hear and tell stories and build shelters and feeders to protect and assist these living beings - our friends.
Design and Coordination: Dina Marques
18-22 July, 9:30-12:30

Paint till you drop
Could you paint with water? Can you make a painting without a support? And can we make a painting without touching the brush? In this workshop we will roll up our sleeves and get our hands dirty – or covered in paint ...? One thing is certain, this workshop is really about painting. Paint until we drop!
Design and Coordination: Magda Silva, Rita Faustino
18-22 July, 14:00-17:00

Will you tow the line?
If hands, fingers and arms are like loose lines in space, will you "Tow the line" in this out-of-line workshop? Here we’ll explore, move, play, break, throw, lift and displace lines and drawings, lines from drawings, and the lines of space itself, using movements and gestures of our own body ...!
Design and Coordination: Magda Silva, Melissa Rodrigues
8-12 August, 9:30-12:30

Creative…Archaeology!
When I find an old object, that wasn’t mine, what can I say about it and what does it say about you? Objects have so much history and stories to unravel ..! Let's look at these mysterious findings as if we were archaeologists, but also as artists, first discovering everything about them and then transforming them ... Intervention or suggestion? Assemblage or ready made?
Design and Coordination: Raquel Sambade, Sónia Borges
8-12 August, 14:00-17:00

3, 2, 1 - CLICK!
Never before in the history of mankind has photography been used as much as it is today. We can take photographs at every moment and at any time because cameras follow us everywhere – in our phones, tablets, computers. But every time we take a photograph do we stop long enough to take a good picture? Today photography is fast, spontaneous, digital and with filters. In this workshop we will concentrate our attention on these moments before the click, in order later to be surprised by photographs that deserve to be shared.
Design and Coordination: Raquel Sambade
16-19 August, 9:30-12:30

Wings that don’t fly
In "Wings that don’t fly” we establish relations between the metabolism of a living being and the operation of a building. The layout map of Serralves museum and the image of an insect are the grounds for exploring the possible relationships between similar functions. Are windows eyes? Are exhibitions the wings of our imagination? How does the museum breathe? When does it sleep? Does the museum play?
Then you can create a house inspired by the organism of a living being: if your home was an animal, what would it be? Where are the beds? How do you enter?
Design and Coordination: Ana Vieira, Andreia Coutinho
16-19 August, 14:00-17:00
29 August-2 September, 9:30-12:30

This was already a Museum!
First we’ll remove the ceiling. Then the walls disappear. And now we’ll dislodge the floor. With a treasure map in our hands, we measure things using our legs and feet, searching from one extreme to the other! If this plant isn’t green and if the walls aren’t fixed, what kind of room is this? Let’s use the layout plans of the Museum and invent a new place!
Design and Coordination: Magda Silva, Rita Faustino
22-26 August, 9:30-12:30

Moving drawings
Come and discover and build objects that play with our eyes. They are optical toys that use still drawings which, as a result of movement, seem to move before our eyes. Have you thought how the cartoons you see on television are made? Come see how this works.
Design and Coordination: Raquel Correia, Sónia Borges
29 August-2 September, 14:00-17:00

Experimentarium
The Experimentarium is a laboratory where you’re allowed to experiment! We will mix liquids and create viscous, gelatinous, flying and bouncing balls. In the crystals test tube, which color will you choose or inside what shape will see them grow? In the world of protons, neutrons and electrons, we will invent electric game for a fun-filled week.

During 1 week, scientists, reporters and actors will transform the Park and the Farm's Laboratory into a true television studio. We will monitor the work of the detective scientists during their painstaking collection of crime evidence. At the end of the filming, interviews and experiences a final report will be broadcast, and the person responsible for such confusion will be revealed!

Dreamt-up, imagined, invented and recreated places. In this performance-based workshop, we’ll embark on a set of sensory experiences, that will lead us, through evasion, imagination and freedom, to create our very own dream world. Shhhh ....Let's start, close your eyes…

Geometrically animated
What does a director feel when he creates his first film? How does he create a story, invent characters and screenplays? How does he move the characters? We have answers to all these questions and more, in a unique adventure into the world of fiction and filmmaking.
Using simple geometric shapes and some materials from our day-to-day lives, we will create an animated film, produced in stop-motion, featuring the figures produced by us to represent a unique narrative filled with creativity.
