Sun Dial Garden

Latitude: 41.159194
Longitude: -8.657303

Designed by Jacques Gréber in 1932, then known as the Boxwood Garden, this small, intimate locale, located at the intersection between two secondary axes that run parallel to the Sweetgum Alley and the Central Parterre, serves as an ante-chamber to the Rose garden and once had a Sun Dial in its centre, which was removed prior to acquisition of the property by the Portuguese State in the 1980s.

The garden also has pruned boxwood hedges, and is surrounded by magnificent arboreal Rhododendrons that bloom in the spring.
