1 APR 2017 | OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION "INCOHERENT ARTS: THE CABINET OF ALVESS"
On 31 March 2017, the exhibition "Incoherent Arts: The Cabinet of Alvess" was inaugurated in Ovar. Alvess is the artistic name of Manuel Alves (Viseu, 1939 — Paris, 2009), who lived the majority of his life in Paris, where he decided to add an ‘s’ to his name — surrendering ironically to the way that it was pronounced by the French.

27 MAR 2017 | INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE "INTERSEXUALITIES: CROSSING BODIES, CROSSINGS BORDERS"
The International Conference Intersexualities: Crossing Bodies, Crossing Borders took place on 23rd, 24th and 25th of March 2017 at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto and at the Serralves Foundation, in partnership with Porto City Council. The event aimed to promote an academic reflection on bodies, sexual politics and power relations, within a transnational scope and framed by critical perspectives provided by contemporary theories and ongoing debates on gender, sex and sexualities.

22 MAR 2017 | OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION IN THE PALÁCIO DA BOLSA: ÂNGELO DE SOUSA, JOÃO MACHADO AND ZULMIRO DE CARVALHO
In the 1960s and 1970s, there was a paradigm shift in artistic styles, including the field of sculpture, as highlighted in this exhibition of works by Ângelo de Sousa, João Machado and Zulmiro de Carvalho.This exhibition is fruit of a partnership between the Palácio da Bolsa and the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art in Porto, whereby works from the Serralves Collection are displayed in the Palace’s historic interiors.

21 MAR 2017 | PERFORMANCE OF ENSEMBLE AGA KHAN: "NEW MUSIC FROM THE SILK ROUTE"
The Aga Khan Music Initiative ensemble travelled to Portugal for a series of three concerts. The opening concert took place at the Serralves Auditorium on March 20. The Aga Khan Music Initiative is an artistic endeavour that recalls and reinterprets timeless musical encounters from the territories of the historic Silk Road.

17 MAR 2017 | OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION "MONIR SHAHROUDY FARMANFARMAIAN: INFINITE POSSIBILITY. MIRROR WORKS AND DRAWINGS, 1974–2014"
On 17 March 2017 the exhibition "Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian: Infinite Possibility. Mirror Works and Drawings 1974-2014” was inaugurated at the Chrysler Museum of Art, in Norfolk, United States of America. The exhibition is the first museum survey of geometric mirror works and drawings by the celebrated Iranian artist Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian (b. 1924, Qazvin).

11 MAR 2017 | CLOSING PARTY OF THE XXII EXHIBITION OF THE CAMELLIAS OF PORTOOn 11th March, Serralves' Park received the closing party of Porto's Camellia Week, that happened from 4th to 11th of March in different places in the city. With free entrance, the program included workshops for children and families, show-cooking, guided tours, music, dance, performance a camellia market and many other activities.

10 MAR 2017 | OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION "JOSÉ PEDRO CROFT: FROM ONE SIDE TO THE OTHER"
On 9 March 2017 the exhibition "José Pedro Croft: From one side to the other". The exhibition features 15 works from the Serralves Collection covering the most relevant periods of José Pedro Croft’s (Porto, 1957)  career, highlighting his fundamental concerns, methodologies and use of materials. The exhibition is organized according to four themes: Monument and Death; Home and Furniture; Mirrors and Glass; Drawing and Engraving.

8 MAR 2017 | INAUGURATION OF THE EXHIBITION, "ÁLVARO SIZA VIEIRA: VISIONS OF ALHAMBRA"
On 7 March 2017 the exhibition "Álvaro Siza Vieira: Visions of the Alhambra" was inaugurated at Serralves Library. This exhibition presents the drawings and scale models that the architect produced while conceiving creation of a new access and visitor centre for the Alhambra complex. It offers privileged access to the architect’s creative process.

4 FEB 2017 | INAUGURATION OF THE EXHIBITION "PHILIPPE PARRENO: A TIME COLOURED SPACE"
On February 3, 2017 the exhibition "A Time Coloured Space" was inaugurated at the Serralves Museum. This is a major exhibition of the French artist, Philippe Parreno, and his first in Portugal, curated by Suzanne Cotter, the museum’s director. The exhibition occupies all of the Museum’s thirteen rooms, extending over both floors and also including the Auditorium.

24 JAN 2017 | PRESS CONFERENCE TO PRESENT THE 2017 PROGRAMME
In 2017, Serralves will face major new challenges, and will also consolidate a path that has been guided by the capacity to add qualified people and resources, based on the principles of independence, the quality of a national project with an international scope and an ongoing public service mission. Serralves aims to continue to be a unique institution in Portugal, by virtue of its dynamic promotion of contemporary arts and culture.
