14 MAR | OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION "MY HOME IS YOUR HOME" IN TORRES VEDRAS
On March 14th the exhibition "My Home is your Home" opened. The exhibition displays a selection from the Serralves Collection that deals with themes around urbanity and domesticity. Until June 17th Municipal Gallery in Torres Vedras welcomes the public to temporarily inhabit the homes imagined by the artists.

12 MAR | PUBLIC PRESENTATION OF BIOBLITZ 2018
The program for the 2018 edition BioBlitz was presented on March 12th in the Serralves Library. This edition occurs between the 16th and the 22nd of April, with five days dedicated to schools, between the 16th and the 20th, and the weekend open for the general-public, on the 21st and 22nd of April.

10 MAR | VISIT OF THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR CULTURE DO SECRETÁRIO DE ESTADO DA CULTURA
Serralves hosted the Ministry of Culture of Portugal, with the visit of the Secretary of State for Culture, Miguel Honrado, to the exhibitions in the Museum, in the company of the President of Serralves Foundation, Ana Pinho and the Director of the Museum, João Ribas.

09 MAR | OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION "JOAN MIRÓ: MATERIALITY AND METAMORPHOSIS" IN PADUA
On March 9th opened the exhibition "Joan Miró: Materiality and Metamorphosis" in Fondazione Bano, in Padua. After the huge success the exhibition had in Serralves, where its first public presentation between october 2016 and june 2017 was visited by 240 thousand visitors, the exhibition will be on display in Fondazione Bano until june 2018.

08 MAR | OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION "MARQUES DE AGUIAR, 1927-2015: BUILDING PLACES"
On March 8th the exhibition "Marques de Aguiar, 1927-2015: Building Places" opened in the Serralves Library. Marques de Aguiarbelongs to a generation of architects from Porto for whom drawing is a privileged tool of thought. The exhibition runs through the work of Marques de Aguiar as an architect, urban planner and landscape designer, divided in six "places" where the architect's contribution was important.

03 MAR | LAUCH OF THE BOOK: "O EXERCÍCIO EXPERIMENTAL DA LIBERDADE" BY DELFIM SARDO
On March 3rd the book "O Exercício Experimental da Liberdade" was launch in Serralves bookshop. The author, Delfim Sardo, talked with the visual artist Julião Sarmento. In "O Exercício Experimental da Liberdade", Delfim Sardo reflects upon the XXth century avant-gardes and the foretold death of artistic disciplines, questioning the Utopian premise of the emancipation of art from representation.

02 MAR | OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION "THE SERRALVES COLLECTION IN THE PORTO AIRPORT: PEDRO CABRITA REIS"
The exhibition of the Serralves Collection in the Airpot of Porto opened on March 2nd. After a work by Miguel Palma, "A Lifetime#1" by Pedro Cabrita Reis is on display in the Arrivals Hall of the Airport of Porto. Initially trained as a painter, Cabrita Reis is best known for his sculptures and large-scale installations and constructions, being one of the most internationally renowned Portuguese artists. "A Lifetime#1" is a sculpture where a dialogue is established between built structures and the language of construction, once again placing the act of building at the heart of Cabrita Reis’ work.

24 FEV | OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION "ÂNGELO DE SOUSA: ALMOST EVERYTHING I AM CAPABLE OF" IN MATOSINHOS
On February 24th, the exhibition "Ângelo de Sousa: Almost Everything I am Capable of" opened in the Municipal Gallery of Matosinhos. The exhibition gathers around 35 works of several periods of the career of one of the most influential characters of Portuguese art world of the second half of the twentieth century, and one of the artists with the greatest number of works in the Serralves Collection.‘Angelo de Sousa: Nearly Everything I am Capable Of´ exceptionally includes in this presentation two paintings dating from 1965 that belong to the collection of the Matosinhos Municipal Council.

19 FEB | OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION "SERRALVES COLLECTION: NEW LINES, IMAGES, OBJECTS"
"SERRALVES COLLECTION: NEW LINES, IMAGES, OBJECTS" opened on February 19th. A selection of works recently added to the Serralves Collection are exhibited in this context. The acquisitions on display in this exhibition broaden the collection’s core of historical works. The Director of the Museum, João Ribas, and the Deputy to the Director, Ricardo Nicolau, participated in a talk with some of the artists represented in this exhibition: Ana Santos, Ângela Ferreira e Pires Vieira.

18 FEB | NEW VERSION OF "RASO COMO O CHÃO" BY JOÃO DE SOUSA CARDOSO BASED ON ÁLVARO LAPA'S TEXT
As part of the Cycle "Álvaro Lapa: All of Time": Performing Arts . Cinema . Talks, João de Sousa Cardoso presented in the Serralves auditorium a new version of "Raso como o chão ["Flat as the Ground"], based on the book of the same name by Álvaro Lapa. The variation was conceived specifically for the Serralves Museum, after the premiere in 2012 in Teatro Nacional São João. In "Flat as the Ground" João de Sousa Cardoso engages in a talk with the artist who taught him. The performance is designed for a singer, Ana Deus, and a lecturer, the author himself.

10 FEB | FIRST SCREENING OF THE CYCLE "ÁLVARO LAPA: ALL OF TIME”: PERFORMING ARTS . CINEMA . TALKS
The Cycle "Álvaro Lapa: All of Time": Performing Arts . Cinema . Talks opened with the screening of the film "Álvaro Lapa: The Literature". The director, Jorge Silva Melo, was present and talked with the curator of the exhibition, Miguel von Hafe Pérez. In "Álvaro Lapa: The Literature" Jorge Silva Melo revisits his relationship with Álvaro Lapa and the role of literature in the visual artist

10 FEB | GUIDED VISIT TO THE EXHIBITION"ÁLVARO LAPA: ALL OF TIME"
On February 10th occurred in the Museum of Serralves the first guided visit of a series of talks and visits, as well as performances, theatre plays and film screenings around the exhibition "Álvaro Lapa: All of Time". This visit was guided by the exhibition's curator, Miguel von Hafe Pérez.

08 FEB | OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION "ÁLVARO LAPA: ALL OF TIME"
The exhibition "Álvaro Lapa: All of Time" opened on February 8th. The Portuguese minister of Culture, Luís Filipe Castro Mendes, was present in the opening. Álvaro Lapa remains among the most enigmatic artists in 20th century Portuguese art, with a body of work as relevant and alluring as it is defiantly elusive. The retrospective is curated by Miguel von Hafe Pérez and features over 290 works from different periods in the artist's career.

3 FEB | SCREENING OF THE FILM "AN OPERA OF THE WORLD"
The film "An Opera of the World" by Manthia Diawara was screened in the Serralves auditorium. The work that recounts an eternal migration drama was developed for the most important event of contemporary art in the world, Documenta in Kassel, and was presented in national premiere in Lisbon the previous day. The screening was followed by a talk with the director and the producer of the film, Jürgen Bock, moderated by Nuno Crespo, Director of the School of Arts of Catholic University of Portugal.

26 JAN | VISIT OF THE EMBASSY OF ITALY
Serralves hosted the Embassy of Italy in Portugal, with the visit of the ambassador of Italy, Giuseppe Morabito, to the exhibitions in the Museum, in the company of the President, Ana Pinho and the Director of the Museum, João Ribas.

25 JAN | JOÃO RIBAS IS THE NEW DIRECTOR OF SERRALVES MUSEUM 
Serralves Foundation’s Board of Directors has appointed João Ribas as Director of the Serralves Museum. João Ribas was chosen in a highly competitive international competition, launched by the Serralves Foundation at the end of 2017, which received candidates from all over the world.

25 JAN | OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION "WORK IN PROGRESS"
The studio AND-RE/ Bruno André e Francisco Ré won the competition for the design of an exhibition pavilion, organized by the Serralves Foundation and Ordem dos Arquitectos - Secção Regional do Norte. The projects of Murmuro Colectivo and Samuel de Brito Gonçalves were ranked in second and third place, respectively. A selection of the ten best proposals is on exhibition in the Museum, under the title "Work in Progress".

19 JAN | OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION "MARISA MERZ: THE SKY IS A GREAT SPACE"
Marisa Merz's exhibition in the Serralves Museum, "The Sky is a Great Space", opened on the 19th of January. It is part of an important international itinerancy originally organized by the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Merz is the only female protagonist of the important Art Povera group and was awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 2013 Venice Biennale. In Europe, the exhibition is organized by the Serralves Museum and the Museum der Moderne Salzburg, with the collaboration of Fondazione Merz, in Italy.

19 JAN | PRESS BRIEFING OF THE 2018 PROGRAMME 
On the 19th of January Serralves Foundation announced its Programme for 2018. After a year of historical records, in 2018, the Serralves Foundation aims to cross boundaries.

17 JAN | VISIT OF THE EMBASSY OF ROMANIA
Serralves hosted the Embassy of Romania in Portugal, with the visit of the madam ambassador of Romania, Ioana Bivolaru, the vice-director of the Romanian Institute in Lisbon, Arc. Gelu Savonea, and the Economic and Commercial Counsellor, Dr. Adela Condurache-Fedorca, to the exhibitions in the Museum, in the company of the President, Ana Pinho and the Deputy Director of the Museum, João Ribas.
