Science around Coffee

To counter the scarcity of opportunities for informal interaction between society and the scientific community, these relaxed talks around a cup of coffee will introduce a guest scientist and allow for the discussion of such issues as: What kind of science is done in Portugal? Who are our scientists? How do they work? What do they research? Which results do they obtain?

CIBIO is a Research Centre of the University of Porto in Biological Sciences which conducts basic and applied research on the three main components of biodiversity: genes, species and ecosystems. The Research Centre aims to promote the advancement of scientific knowledge in the aforementioned fields, collaborate in the definition of conservation priorities and management measures with the national and international conservation authorities, train students at various levels, and improve the public’s understanding and appreciation of biodiversity.
