The oeuvre of Artur Barrio (Porto, 1945) is surprising in the way in which the artist constructs ephemeral situations where the experience of art and life subverts the place for the presentation of the artwork as well as the condition of the viewer. The return of Barrio to the Serralves Museum is also a return to Porto, where he was born. Between Portugal and Brazil, between Europe and South America, the life and work of Artur Barrio bring together errancy, travelling, the ocean and the permanent rediscovery of oneself and others.Artur Barrio will ‘inhabit’ the central room of the Serralves Museum, to reinvent it with a new specific project, and to transform it over several weeks before and after the opening.
