The work of Bethan Huws (born in 1961 in Bangor, Wales, UK) connects to artistic movements like minimal and conceptual art and at the same time sets a new artistic precedent which is fully Huws’ own. Fundamentally her works are sculptural: they create physical places that are conceived as places of memory and reflection. One important line of orientation of her work is her childhood on a farm in Wales; the other is a profound questioning of the source of art which has taken her to an ongoing examination of language and the work of Marcel Duchamp. The exhibition “Fountain” includes a large floor piece relating to the givens of the exhibition space, text works, ready-mades, language-related objects, films, watercolours, etc.
