CIRCA 68

The Museum’s inaugural exhibition constituted a manifesto-exhibition of its new collection, bringing together works by Portuguese and foreign artists that represented the historical period covered by, and underpinning, the collection. With the title “Circa 68”, this exhibition simultaneously occupied the Museum and the Villa, and included works from the collection accompanied by other works that provided the respective context. In this manner, it constituted an exhibition both concerning and related to the collection, highlighting the artistic and cultural context of the experimental languages that were transformed into a cultural symbol of the Western world in 1968.
