Delirium in Las Vedras | 80 min.In a raving and eccentric record of the Torres Vedras Carnival, Delirium in Las Vedras presents a series of interconnected adventures and misadventures, parodying the style of television and radio reports, in what is claimed to be "the most Portuguese Carnival in Portugal." Competition aside, there are many situations and characters from Portugal’s current political situation that serve as an inspiration for the Carnival revellers. In the midst of make-believe matrons, kings and queens, some of the improvised reporters from Edgar Pêra’s troupe insist on confusing roles, and as they proceed through the festivities, ask the masked revellers whether this isn’t the moment for an insurrection, a turning point towards an anarchical regime. This provocation isn’t always understood by all those who return home in the morning, with a terrible hangover. But the nostalgic atmosphere of the end of the festivities does not curb the nostalgic longing for revolution.
