KINO - Die Lügen der Sieger (The Lies of the Victors)

Fabian Groys, a renowned Journalist working on the Berlin editorial staff of a political news magazine, is developing an in-depth story about a questionable army policy towards injured veterans. However, his research is deadlocked. In his private life, he is wracked by gambling debts. He is virtually bankrupt and is forced to hand over his Porsche. When the editor saddles him with an intern, in order to be able to get rid of her, at least for a while, he puts her charge of a seemingly insignificant research: a man who jumped into an enclosure with lions. The task should keep the intern Nadja occupied. But she begins to build up evidence that her case is linked to his case. Eventually the puzzle seems to become increasingly clear. Perhaps too clear ... There is something that makes Groys suspicious. Can you trust your information? What is the role of the Armed Forces and the lobbyists?

Christoph Hochhäusler was born in Munich in 1972. He studied architecture in Berlin and film directing in the Munich Film and Television School (HFF). His final year film was Milchwald [This Very Moment], which was followed by his second feature film, entitled Falsche Bekenner [I am Guilty]. After contributing to the omnibus film Deutschland 09, he received the German Film Incentive Award for the screenplay of the film Unter dir die Stadt [The City Below].In 2011, he presented the joint project Dreileben, which includes three independent 90-minute films, at the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), in collaboration with Dominik Graf and Christian Petzold,.His most recent film Die Lügen der Sieger [The Lies of the Victors, 2014] had its world premiere in Rome. Hochhäusler is the author of several journalistic and theoretical works on the cinema, notably as the founder and editor of the film magazine Revolver.
