RAOUL DE KEYSER

The Belgian painter creates new options for abstract painting in a historical situation where abstraction as an ideology has become obsolete. The works are informed by a strong and personal sensitivity and a "theory” which is a matter of the gaze rather than an underlying concept or programme. In this sense they are experimental. Often De Keyser’s paintings are initiated by something he sees but what he sees he sees in terms of painting. As far as his painting is concerned there is no "outside” of painting: therefore what he does is painting of painting… The exhibition presents approx. 80 works from all of De Keyser’s career of 40 years of painting.
