Session of "KINO – Showcase of German-Language Cinema"

The 12th edition of KINO – Showcase of German-Language Cinema will run January 22-30 in Lisbon, Porto and Coimbra,. It features a selection of recent films from Germany, Austria, Luxembourg and Switzerland.In Serralves, the inaugural session of the extension of the KINO festival to Porto will exhibit the film "DIE GELIEBTEN SCHWESTERN (The Beloved Sisters)" - the latest film from the German director, Dominik Graf. The film had its world premiere in the official competition of the 2014 Berlin Film Festival where it was nominated for Golden Bear and was chosen to represent Germany in the nominations for Academy Award for Best Foreign Film.

"DIE GELIEBTEN SCHWESTERN (The Beloved Sisters)"Directed by: Dominik Graf, Austria / Germany, 2014, 140 min.Synopsis: The summer of 1788 in Rudolstadt. Rebellious poet Friedrich Schiller and two penniless sisters, members of the Thuringian aristocracy, experience an unforgettable period together which will eventually bind them forever. Unhappily married Caroline von Beulwitz and her shy sister Charlotte von Lengefeld take seriously their oath to share everything – even the author of "The Robbers”. Charlotte marries Schiller so they may pursue their ménage à trios under the guise of convention. Caroline, whose novel Schiller publishes anonymously, leaves her husband. The fragile equilibrium of their love triangle becomes unhinged when she falls pregnant. But Schiller is determined to fight for both sisters…
