In a partnership between Fundação de Serralves and Fundação Casa da Música, the Orquestra Sinfónica debuts in Parque de Serralves with magnificent pages of music that will make this summer evening shine. Mozart’s classic elegance sets the tone, with the overture of his famous opera The Magic Flute, in a program that also features some of Strauss II’s best-known waltzes. The programme is inspired by several traditions to bring us passionate dances such as the Argentine tango or the Hungarian gypsy verbunkos, in addition to the beautiful overture of a French opera that was lost for 150 years until it was rediscovered in the 21st century. A concert conducted by awardwinning Venezuelan conductor Carlos Izcaray, music director of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra.
