Fourth session of the new film and talk programme O Saber do Cinema [The Knowledge of Cinema], programmed and moderated by Regina Guimarães and Saguenail.

The screening-discussion sessions of the film programme The Knowledge of Cinema will resume on 31 January at Casa do Cinema Manoel de Oliveira. As usual, this fifth instalment will comprise five sessions held every two weeks, all on Saturday mornings between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., which will include screenings of previously unannounced films.

The screenings, aimed at an adult audience, will be preceded by a short introduction and followed by a discussion that aims to be boldly fertile and participatory. A programme leaflet with an original text will be distributed at each session. In conjunction with the Serralves Museum’s Educational Service, the choice of films for this programme, curated by Regina Guimarães and Saguenail, will comment on the chosen theme in very different ways and from very different points of view.

Magical, fortuitous, provoked, avoided, desired, conventional, fertile, fleeting... the ENCOUNTER is one of the most common structures that cinema most often resorts to ̶ if only the simple ‘boy meets girl’ that fills box-offices. In addition to bringing characters and lives together, cinema also provides unique and unpredictable encounters between films and viewers.
