Together tackles a simple title with a complex question: how to be together?
Together is an intimate performative duet between dancer Oisín Monagahn and Maria Hassabi that takes place on a small white plinth. The work proposes a forceful choreographic meditation on methods of affecting and being affected by each other; on ways of living with and next to another as two bodies embrace and disentangle , always moving to the limits of perception , folding the surrounding space the contours of the body.
TOGETHER(2019) was commissioned by the Pulitzer Arts Foundation, St. Louis, and supported by “Extended Life,” a program of the Lower Manhattan Council of the Arts. TOGETHER was developed through a residency at FLOOR, NYC.

Maria Hassabi (born in Cyprus) is an artist and choreographer working with live performance, installation, sculpture, photography and video. Since the early 2000s she has developed a unique artistic practice based on the relationship between the live body, the still image, and the sculptural object, often placing the performing body at the center. Hassabi’s works reflect on concepts of time and the human figure, while employing a variety of media to emphasize the complexity of formal organization. Her works have been featured in many exhibitions and festivals across the world.
