One of Manoel de Oliveira's favourite films, "Rebecca” was also Alfred Hitchcok's first Hollywood picture: it tells the story of a haunted house named after a woman (Manderley) and the three women who live there (two of who are nameless). An adaptation of Daphne du Maurier's well-known novel of the same name, a Gothic fable of marital terrors.
