ONE HAND | OTHER is the third iteration of the performance series whose common title is reduced to the symbol | . Initiated in 2017 in the New-Old Dance cycle and reiterated in 2021 in the New Visualizations for Bodies in Activation cycle, the series re-articulates a set of choreographic materials according to the circumstances of each presentation. Moving walls, text packs and spiraling bodies compose a space in continuous reconfiguration, which the audience also inhabits, and where gestures circulate without stable address.

The entire series is an incursion into the relationship between act and knowledge, assessing dependencies between one and the other in bodies that learn and unlearn. It is, overall, a choreographic study on the very conditions of study.

CARLOS M. OLIVEIRA (1980, Santarém) works as an artist in the fields of contemporary dance, choreography, and performance. After a period dedicated to critiquing the relationship between choreography and dance — he was a researcher at universities in Europe and the USA, earning a PhD in 2016 from the UT Austin | Portugal Program with a study on the modes of existence of choreographic objects — since 2017 he has devoted himself to producing, creating, and presenting his artistic and curatorial work, without abandoning the same problems.
