Seventh session of the cycle of films and talks Modos de Rever: Cinema e o Imaginário do Museu, with programming and moderation by Isabel Lopes Gomes. Following on from the previous film programme, which explored the rapprochement between cinema and the plastic arts, this second session seeks to reflect on the representations of the museum in cinema, in different periods of its history and up to the present day. This session will feature a screening of John McTiernan's The Thomas Crown Affair (1999), followed by a conversation with film critic António Roma Torres and the writer and editor Francisco José Viegas, moderated by Isabel Lopes Gomes.

Directed by action specialist John McTiernan, The Thomas Crown Affair follows billionaire executive Thomas Crown who, to combat the boredom of his life, entertains himself by stealing a Monet from a renowned museum with an elaborate diversion. When Catherine Banning, the insurance company's investigator, takes an interest in Crown, he may have met his match, and a complicated game of back and forth with seductive overtones begins between them, with the museum as the backdrop and stage for a smuggling of affections and values.
