CARTE BLANCHE TO LUIS MIGUEL CINTRA

Luis Miguel Cintra needs no introduction. A major figure in Portuguese theatre, he has directed and performed in hundreds of plays, both classic and contemporary, which are among the most important texts in world dramaturgy. He has also been one of the most striking faces on the Portuguese film scene since the New Portuguese Cinema, being one of the most frequent presences in Manoel de Oliveira's work, and has also collaborated with filmmakers such as Paulo Rocha, João César Monteiro, José Álvaro Morais, Joaquim Pinto, João Botelho, Pedro Costa and Jorge Silva Melo, among others.

Running parallel to the exhibition, Casa do Cinema challenged Luis Miguel Cintra to select a set of films that have marked his career as an actor and stage director, in a film programme that reveals elective affinities, but also bridges between theatre and cinema, in what is also one of the best opportunities to get to know Luis Miguel Cintra the cinephile.
