The Museum as Performance returns to Serralves on 7 and 8 November. Over the course of the weekend, artists from different disciplines bring together performance, visual arts, dance and music, proposing new ways of seeing and inhabiting the Museum. Body, sound, gesture, image and presence temporarily occupy galleries and other spaces. More than simply presenting performances within an exhibition setting, the programme invites artists and audiences to explore different relationships with Serralves’ architecture and familiar uses.

For two days, Serralves opens itself up to a temporary yet memorable occupation, shaped by gestures, voices, sounds, movements and images. With each edition, The Museum as Performance reflects the diversity of forms that performance can take today: an ephemeral action, a sound experience, a particular engagement with language and theatre, or an encounter between body and object — all experiences that linger in the memory long after they have taken place.
