Third screening of the film programme Miguel Gomes — Full Retrospective and Carte Blanche — which explores the dialogue between the director’s filmography and his universe of cinematic influences. The screening will feature Vincente Minnelli’s “Brigadoon” (1954).

A quintessential example of the American musical, “Brigadoon” is a dazzling fantasy tale about a Scottish village that “lives” one day every century and is discovered by two hunters. One of them, Gene Kelly, finds the love of his life there, which will make a miracle possible. The orchestration of movement, colors, musical numbers, and fantastical imagery represents one of the poetic high points of filmmaker Vincente Minnelli’s work.
