Sixteenth screening in the film programme Manoel de Oliveira e o Cinema Português 3, held in conjunction with the third part of the exhibition of the same name. The screening will feature Rita Azevedo Gomes' “Frágil Como o Mundo” (2001) with the filmmaker herself in attendance to introduce the film.

Vera and João are two young people who love each other, but time is against them. Their desire to be together compels them, in a sort of childish game, to run away from their friends, their homes, other people, and the world. Isolated in a forest, they promise never to part from one another, “for anything in this world.” But one day, Vera grows weak and eventually falls ill. If he cannot leave her “for anything in this world,” he also cannot help but want to ask for help. His unshakable faith in their love is about to shatter. Fragile as the World is the story of a (mis)match in love.
