A successful photographer in London, whose world is limited to fashion, pop music, drugs, and easy sex, feels that his life is boring and hopeless. But, in the course of a single day, he unwittingly captures a death on film, which will precipitate a series of increasingly bizarre events. This dizzying film by Michelangelo Antonioni crystallized the atmosphere and iconography of swinging London in the 1960s, while continuing his crusade of modern emotional inquiry, this time in a Pop Art palette, which he would also continue in his next film, Zabriskie Point (1970).
