A conversation with Alexandre Melo, professor of Sociology of Culture and Art, curator and art critic, presented by Philippe Vergne, Director of Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art.
Mark Bradford, is one of the most respected artist of our time. He has, over the last 20years, enriched the medium of painting by bringing together the material and the iconography of urban vernacular with the stature of historical paintings, and unfolding on the walls of the museums the history and the stories of the most vulnerable among us. We have developed an approach to his work based on three perspectives: the Unicorn Tapestries, American painting from the second half of the 20th century and the streets of Los Angeles.

curator and art critic. He writes essays and articles for publications such as
