TALK WITH CLARA FERREIRA ALVES
Vexation of Spirit. The Duerckheim Collection x Serralves
Moderated by Marta Almeida, Deputy Director of the Serralves Museum.
Free admission. Ticket required.

Vexation of Spirit. The Duerckheim Collection x Serralves is the title of the exhibition marking the first presentation at Serralves of the contemporary art collection assembled by Count Duerckheim and recently placed on deposit with the Foundation. Built over four decades, the collection includes works by some of the most important artists of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Considered one of Europe's most significant private collections, it reflects an artistic vision shaped by moral unease and historical awareness.
Marta Moreira de Almeida, curator of the exhibition and Deputy Director of the Serralves Museum, invites Clara Ferreira Alves to reflect on the relationships between contemporary art, history and political consciousness. Exploring the themes of religion, society, war and vexation, the conversation will focus on the moral concerns of our time, questioning the role of critical thinking in the face of sociopolitical turmoil, the power of ideologies and the unquestioning acceptance of authority. An encounter exploring art's capacity to question the present and defend freedom of thought.
