IL Y A UNE LARME DANS CHAQUE NOTE ET UN SOUPIR DANS CHAQUE PLI
ODETE & CATY OLIVE

Based on a week in creation residency set to explore the resonances of their worlds, Caty Olive and Odete present the result of this first meeting and collaborative project. The organic electronic meanderings, the dissolving borders in Odete’s music, the poetry and trans-performativity in her work, meet the breathing in Caty’s lighting systems and ever mutating light bodies.
An elemental empathy between the work of these two artists runs in the transformative aspects of their creative approaches, one that goes against rigidity and essentialist currents, one that can be found within the particular strain of ecology of bodies and energies that transpires from their work. It inhabits realms where matter and spirit do not delve in dualistic existence but rather in transient permutations of intimate entanglement and fusion, territories bearing prismatic visions, fostering the abilities of light and sound/music to transform, transgress and transfigure monolithic perspectives.
Furthermore, Odete and Olive choose to evoke the character of the castrati and to explore their vocal and aesthetic universe. They propose imagining that these castrati could be a form of fiction in a place whose contours remain fluid, whose dimensions vacillate, which transforms. A space that absorbs the bodies that inhabit it. A place where history might give way to fantasy and speculation, where the baroque dimension of a body is within it, remaining fugitive to the demands for extra clarity in present times.
