This exhibition is characterized by the presence of three artists whose works summon deeply imaginative narrative universes: Paula Rego, Jorge Queiroz and Sue Williams. Despite the differences in their artistic languages, the three share a surrealist visual construction, where the absence of a hierarchical organization favors the emergence of open, personal, and free narratives. Between drawing, painting, and the evocation of the unconscious, their works articulate memory, fiction, and experience, affirming creative freedom as a structuring principle and establishing the conceptual framework for the exhibition.

This exhibition, curated by Luís Pinto Nunes and coordinated by Carlos Magalhães, is part of the Serralves Collection Travelling Exhibitions Programme, which aims to make the Foundation's collection accessible to diverse audiences from all regions of the country.
