Serralves Museum
NOV 2026 - MAY 2027
2611 Anri Sala

Anri Sala is one of the most prominent artists on the international art scene, known for the way he brings together image, sound and architectural space to create sensory and immersive experiences. His work, encompassing video, installation, sculpture and sound interventions, challenges viewers’ perceptions and transforms the exhibition space into a field of dialogue between music, time and architecture.

At Serralves, Sala will occupy the Museum’s Left Wing — including the Central Gallery — with an intervention conceived specifically for this setting. The exhibition proposes a non-linear journey in which landmark works from his career enter into dialogue with more recent creations, including the series of frescoes that marked his move to Naples. Visitors are invited to experience art as a continuous movement, where sound and image unfold across multiple temporalities.

Anri Sala’s presence at Serralves holds particular significance, reflecting the affinity between the artist and the Museum’s identity — a space where art, architecture and nature are organically intertwined. Despite his extensive international recognition, this will be the artist’s first major exhibition in Portugal, reaffirming Serralves’ role in presenting leading figures in contemporary art from around the world.
