With a multidisciplinary practice that combines photography, video, installation and sculpture, Noé Sendas (Brussels, 1972) has carved out a unique path within the Portuguese art scene of recent decades, characterised by a marked interest in the body and its performative encounter with the spaces we inhabit, drawing on mechanisms for presenting and representing reality that test the viewer’s capacity for perspective. Drawing on literature, cinema, theatre and music, Noé Sendas’s works create mises en scène that blur the lines between reality and enigma, autobiography and fiction, bringing together situations of normality and marginality in contemporary society. This exhibition features works from the Serralves Foundation Collection, the Leal Rios Collection – on loan to the Foundation’s Collection – and the artist’s own collection

This exhibition, curated by Luís Pinto Nunes and coordinated by Carlos Magalhães, forms part of the Serralves Collection’s Travelling Exhibitions Programme, which aims to make the Foundation’s collection accessible to a diverse range of audiences from all regions of the country.
