Now celebrating its 35th anniversary, Serralves Jazz no Parque consolidates the format that has been tested in the last three editions – 7 concerts spread across 4 days in the course of two weekends. This festival has marked Portoʼs cultural summer calendar for over three decades and has become a reference event at the national level. With a programme featuring musicians and projects that currently stand out for their production, creativity, consistency and artistic significance, Serralves looks beyond the obvious, the immediately visible, to address the challenges that art faces in an increasingly volatile world shaped by conflicts and a rampant digital acceleration.

Preserving artistic freedom, freedom of expression, cultural diversity and critical thinking are areas in which jazz and improvised music play a particularly prominent role. Now, more than ever, the dialectics between freedom and responsibility points to the question of our times: Should art explicitly denounce injustice or remain ambiguous and reflexive? Our programme seeks to examine all these issues, offering a line-up of seven concerts united by a common spirit: human creativity and artistic dialogue as the guarantees of a free, diverse and relevant culture.
