In ‘Enciclopédia das Escadas’ [Encyclopedia of Stairs], the audience is invited to embark on a continuous tracking shot through several staircases in the gardens of Serralves. We explore the proximity and distance through which the gaze is engaged, with vision, across the various settings proposed, becoming both the means of transport and the primary vehicle for a dramaturgy of place.
‘Enciclopédia das Escadas’ is a multidisciplinary project centred on performance in public space. It investigates and explores the architectural element of the staircase, amplifying its potential and embracing its capacity to function as both setting and central protagonist.
