Presentation of the exhibition book "C.A.S.A. – Collection Álvaro Siza, Archive", which brings together documents from the architectural archive of the Serralves Foundation and an additional section from the art collection donated by Álvaro Siza.
The catalog for the exhibition C.A.S.A. — Collection Álvaro Siza, Archive devotes the first part of the publication to the Álvaro Siza Wing and the architect's other projects at the Serralves Foundation. Drawings, sketches, plans, elevations, and models are accompanied by an essay by António Choupina, curator of the inaugural architectural exhibition of this building, as well as the descriptive project narrative written by Álvaro Siza himself.
The second part of the publication focuses on the exhibition, reviewing the work of the famous architect from Porto and categorizing it by typology. Over one hundred projects are individually discussed and richly illustrated with sketches, photographs, and technical drawings.
Each chapter features a text by an author associated with one of the highlighted projects: Niall Hobhouse, Joaquim Moreno, Teresa Siza, António Madureira, Magda Seifert, José Saramago, to name just a few. The book also includes an original essay by architecture critic William R. J. Curtis and a text by writer Valter Hugo Mãe.
