Serralves, yesterday, today and tomorrowThis year, the Serralves Foundation is celebrating its 30th anniversary and the Museum is 20 years old! What did this place look like 100 years ago? And what will it look like in 100 years from now? What transformations might happen?Let’s discover Serralves today, investigate what Serralves looked like in the past and imagine what it will look like in the future. Our discoveries and ideas will be recorded in drawings, paintings and sculptures that will surprise us in the dark - under a magical light.Idea and Coordination: Raquel Correia, Sónia Borges8-12 April, 9:30-12:30
Around the FarmThis Easter we’ll be going "Around the Farm”. We’ll water, sow and transplant and stroll in the Park to meet and make friends with the living creatures that live here - on the ground and in the trees. We’ll discover who wanders around the meadow and leaves aromatic scents in the vegetable garden ...With so much to discover, we’re going to build colourful scent boxes and feeders for the birds that live here and fly around the park. We’ll put plants in vases, conceive hotels for the insects in the vegetable garden and prepare snacks for the farm animals.Idea and Coordination: Carlota Carqueja, Dina Marques08-12 April, 14:00-17:00
The stories told by the ParkSerralves Park’s natural habitat is constantly recreating itself – as it reveals different forms in a tremendous multiplicity of environments. With a careful gaze and our senses on the alert, we will discover the Park’s 4 environments and the natural mysteries they conceal.Together, we’ll build a collection of 4 postcards that will represent each of the environments and tell 4 fascinating stories of the Park's biodiversity.Idea and Coordination: Anabela Pereira and Filipa Dias15-18 April, 9:30-12:30
Festa in SerralvesSerralves is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Together we’ll organise a party for the Count and his Farm, Pink Villa, Museum and Park. A giant gardener lives in his gardens...Let's walk through the woods and discover that as we advance, we are actually walking backwards. When we reach the Pink Villa, we’ll discover reflections and secrets of countesses in every corner. In the Museum, that’s constantly in movement, we’ll have the chance to explore, transform and feel. In the end, all the real or imaginary people we meet will be invited to the magical space of our workshop.Idea and Coordination: Constança Amador and Patrícia do Vale15-18 April, 14:00-17:00
i-motion What would it be like ifobjects suddenly came to life? Ribbons would start to move, papers would fold themselves and pencil would spin in circles. What if, as if by magic, they joined together and created a giant sculpture that moved around Serralves Park of its own accord? This seems impossible, but that’s what we can do with an animated film! Let's give wings to our imagination and during one week create a film filled with life, magic and excitement! Ready? Action! Home sweet homeVisible to more attentive gazes, in the trees, in small cracks or hidden underground, the nests and shelters found around Serralves Park are extremely curious and offer characteristic signs that tell us about the Park’s inhabitants and their stories of agile survival. Like a true detective we’ll investigate the different architectures, building materials and locations in the micro-environment associated to each species. Using these clues, we’ll reproduce their architectures, by constructing artificial nests / shelters, and will challenge the Park’s inhabitants to create new life stories and new harmonies. Idea and Coordination: Anabela Pereira and Isabel Bessa8-12 April, 14:00-17:00
Spring is here! A new cycle is starting in Serralves Park. Aromas and flowers of various colours, animals that return with their melodious songs and others that wake from their deep winter slumbers ...Come and discover why the Park is such a special place and celebrate the beginning of spring. We invite you to explore the diversity of living creature that live here, including animals and plants, and their inter-relationships. We’ll go on long outdoor walks to beautiful spaces, with challenges and creative activities using some of the materials that Nature has to offer.Idea and Coordination: Isabel Bessa and Mariana Moranduzzo 15-18 April, 9:30-12:30
Fold up yourself! Can you fold up yourself, like a sheet of paper? And turn yourself into an elusive lizard? If your body was like the wall of a house, what secrets would you know? Using the imaginary universe of the Museum, Park and Villa, let’s make our own memories and store them in a way that we will be the only ones who know how to reveal them.Idea and Coordination: Inês Soares and Melissa Rodrigues 15-18 April, 14:00-17:00
Science CampTest your survival skills in Nature during an intense week, filled with challenges. Learn how to build shelters, make a lantern, cook wild snacks in improvised ovens or capture water from plants. We’ll discover many other amazing skills - including how to produce fuel from water and the sun, magnetise needles to find the North pole or learn how to communicate using Morse code.Idea and Coordination: Mundo Científico8-12 April, 9:30-12:30
Atlas of Utopian Instruments: Sound BoxesThe Noise Box (Caixa Bruita) (an adulteration of the French term, bruitage) is a storytelling tool. It only exists in zones of freedom, where all sounds are treated in the same way. Here, there are no instruments for maidens, dominant organoleptic classes or golden ornamentations. Because in music, sounds waft freely over our heads, and this instrument is organized on the basis of this freedom. It harbours the musical notes that have been presented to us throughout history, together with sounds that were seen as marginal, strange and accursed. The music is produced using each person’s imagination, provided that the principle of equality between sounds is upheld. Idea and Coordination: Sonoscopia8-12 April, 14:00-17:00
Space ParkSerralves is a space ship - a vehicle with a limited amount of resources that cannot be replenished. Over a 4-day period we will be unlikely astronauts in command of a special device. We will have the mission of discovering and translating its instruction manual, which will give us a number of indications, that will be essential for the perfect trip. Collage, drawing, photography and video will be the tools that we use to produce the notes and maps that will show us the buttons to activate the command panels and will also reveal hidden rooms and secret stories. We will finally construct the plans for this sensitive and special object, so that we can share this incredible adventure, and show the ship to other people, who didn’t travel with us!Idea and Coordination: João Almeida e Silva and José Costa15-18 April, 9:30-12:30
Space OdysseyInspired by the planetary saga of Star Wars, let's make some bionic hands, spaceships and lightsabers. During this planetary journey, will we be able to manipulate voices with synthesisers and re-create the codes of the droid alphabet? Asteroids, meteorites, comets and planets ... don’t miss this space adventure!Idea and Coordination: Mundo Científico15-18 April, 14:00-17:00
