Now in its 34th edition, Serralves Jazz in the Park is once again a reference event in the context of national music festivals, reinforcing its role in divulging and developing the most relevant proposals in contemporary jazz and improvised music both in Portugal and internationally. At a time when humanity faces multiple challenges all around the planet, it is urgent to revaluate art’s role in the context of our fragile civilizational balance. In spite of its intangible or immeasurable quality, art represents a set of disciplines that are absolutely essential to the evolution and transformation of our world vision. Without it we are unable to see.

For 2025 edition we developed a programme that seeks to stimulate interest and knowledge among audiences from different backgrounds and ages to promote the values of creativity, diversity, inclusion and, most of all, freedom. Featuring a series of seven concerts by some of the most important and significant figures in today’s jazz, such as Peter Evans, Joëlle Léandre, Alexander Hawkins or Eve Risser, while highlighting some projects that propel the national jazz scene, the 34th edition seeks to reinforce a keen, critical look at the most salient proposals in contemporary international jazz. The programme has become an inescapable reference in the tourist agenda during the summer months or, as João Morado wrote in Rimas & Batidas, ‘a fundamental piece for everyone in the North of Portugal’.
