The book Pre/Post – Visual Declinations of the 25th of April marks the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution not only as a celebration, but as an exploration of the tensions, paradoxes, and transformations that defined this pivotal moment. Focusing on the period from 1970 to 1977, the publication examines how Portuguese art responded to the Revolution, highlighting artists and works that captured the complex emotions of that era. Featuring over three hundred works across various media, the book offers a vivid portrait of a defining chapter in the history of Portuguese art, enriched by testimonies from key figures of the time. Edited by Miguel von Hafe Pérez, with texts by Isabel Sabino, David Evans, José Luís Porfírio, and Filipa Vicente, this volume deepens our understanding of the revolutionary period and its impact on art and society.
