0903 Lançamento Livro Hélène Binet de John Hejduk a Andrea Palladio

Serralves’ Auditorium hosts the globally renowned architectural photographer Hélène Binet for the official launch of her book, which compiles over three and a half decades of work. Based on in-depth interviews with the authors, this is the first time the photographer discusses her work as a whole, in terms of recurring themes, techniques, and evolution.

Over thirty-six years, Hélène Binet has photographed contemporary and historical architecture. From her childhood in the Italian fishing village of Sperlonga and in Rome, through her early ""discovery"" of architectural photographer Lucien Hervé, to other significant influences such as the Architectural Association in London, where she met Zaha Hadid, Binet frames her work within the conceptual framework of architectural photography.

Following the book presentation by Hélène Binet herself, there will be a conversation with the author, photographer, and researcher Paulo Catrica, and the award-winning architect Paula Santos. Binet questions whether an architectural photograph is an inventory of a building or space, a translation into a two-dimensional image, or, conversely, an image itself; an artifact that loosely relates to the original object or phenomenon.

The book, which will be available in bookstores worldwide on March 18, will be available for purchase exclusively at the Serralves Museum on the day of the event.

The session is organized by the Serralves Bookshop in collaboration with Whole Women, a project by Susana Almeida and Marta Brandão.
