Serralves em Luz (Serralves in Light) returns for a second edition and transforms the entire Serralves Park into an impressive exhibition of light, enabling nocturnal enjoyment of this magnificent space through a surprising experience.
After the acclaimed success of the first edition, identified as one of the 10 best exhibitions to visit in Europe in 2021 by UK newspaper, The Times, one of the world’s most highly-renowned newspapers, Serralves em Luz is returning to Serralves Park on June 22nd coordinated by the creative director, Nuno Maya, and organised in conjunction with the Serralves team and with lighting design by the OLAB Collective, Sophie Guyot, Tamar Frank and Tilen Sepic.
Along a 3km itinerary, 25 lighting installations, using multiple sources, low-consumption technologies and even plant-based elements from the Park itself, provide a magical sensory experience, in an immersive environment that reveals new perspectives of this remarkable space and invites visitors to discover its natural and architectural heritage.
Nuno Maya's lighting designs, created specifically for this exhibition, combine various types of light with multiple locations in the Park, that will awaken different emotions and visual sensations in the spectator. The international interventions will focus on interactive light sculptures that allow, for the first time, an active role for visitors, who will be able to use light to transform the natural landscapes of the respective spaces. A video mapping projection, designed by year 2 students from the Pasteleira Basic School, of Porto, was developed in a children’s workshop, coordinated by the exhibition’s creative director and implemented with the collaboration of the Serralves Environmental Education Service. The work will be projected on the façade of the Casa do Cinema Manoel de Oliveira.
In parallel with this ambitious outdoor and nocturnal exhibition, there will be a programme of guided visits and photography workshops, which will complement and enhance the experience of the event’s different dimensions: light, nature, art and architecture.

Visit Serralves em Luz and enjoy a truly luminous evening.
